HomeMushrooms

Magic mushrooms, shrooms, mushies, psilocybin mushroom, all popular names for mushrooms which are characterized by their ability to produce the psychedelic compounds psilocybin and psilocin. These are the active compounds that occur naturally in these species of fungi. A characteristic feature of these substances is that it has almost the same molecular structure as the body’s own serotonin. The brain recognizes it as such so that when psilocybin is ingested/administered, it produces the same effects as if it were serotonin.
Serotonin is known as the happy compound and responsible (among others) for numerous psychological processes such as:
– Mood and state of mind
– Cognitive functions such as motor skills and learning ability.
– Executive functions such as making decisions.
– Creativity
– Memory
Although these mushrooms were banned in the Netherlands in 2008, it is still possible to buy grow kits for home cultivation. Since the ban on mushrooms, only Truffles are produced legally in the Netherlands.
