Banisteriopsis Caapi is a South American vine with a high concentration of the MAO inhibitors harmine, harmaline. MAO is a natural ferment that brakes down neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline, MAO inhibitors slow down the degradation process, this way increasing the number of neurotransmitters in the brain synapsis.
Before being isolated and studied, the active ingredients of Banesteriopsis Caapi were referred to as telepathine, because of their presumed role in the hallucinations of Ayahuasca users.

How to use Banisteriopsis Caapi
The active ingredients in Banisteriopsis Caapi have a small psychoactive effect of their own but have traditionally been combined with plants such as Chacruna or Chaliponga to make the powerful psychedelic brew Ayahuasca. When prepared together, the harmala alkaloids prevent the DMT from degrading before it can be absorbed through the liver, making it orally active. The resulting trip can typically last at least five hours.
